I am a Radio Presenter for a Community Radio Station – New Style 98.7 FM which broadcasts from the Afro Caribbean Millennium Centre, 339 Dudley Road, Winson Green, Birmingham, B18 4HB.
I present the Grass Roots Show, which broadcasts a weekly show on Sunday evenings between the hours of 7.00pm - 9.00pm.
Our showcase charts the History of various Jamaican Music from its early days of Spirituals, Junkanoo, RnB, Boogie Woogie, Ska, Burru, Calypso, Rock Steady, Reggae, Roots, Dub, Lover’s Rock, Dancehall, Bashment etc, right up to the present day. I am also a Special Guest Presenter of the Presenter/Film Maker/Lecturer Dr. Robert Beckford at BBC Radio WM 95.7 FM which Broadcasts from The Mail Box, in Birmingham City Centre, every fortnight I do a feature on a Rastafarian Artist and bring in a selection of their music and I talk about the Rastafarian’s Reggae Music and their contribution to the worlds music industry.
I was born in 1961, under the zodiac star sign of Taurus, in the City of Birmingham. England, UK.
I come from a family of 7, and I have 1 sister and 3 brothers, of which I am the eldest. I have lived here all my life, and I grew up in the local areas of Aston, Newtown, Lozells, Perry Barr, Birchfield and Handsworth.
I went to the Prince Albert J & I School, the Birchfield J & I School and from there went on to The Broadway School. When I was 11 I joined the 6th Birmingham Scout Group Association, with the H.Q. in Birchfield Road, until I was 16.
At 16 I left the Broadway School in July of 1977 passing nearly all of my C.S.E.’s with Grade 1’s. I then went on to Walsall College of Technology and took up Apprenticeship Training with E.I.T.B. (Engineering Industry Training Board) where I took a full-time intensive course in a variety of subjects such as Metal-Craft, Metal-Fabrication, Arc & Oxyacetylene Welding, Machine Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
